NEWS: Let us tell you about the iPhone 4 Cracked Glass Repair Service.
Hello internet, Ryan Arter here Owner and President of Mission Repair
in Kansas City. I just wanted to clarify some of the questions that we
receive at Mission Repair about the iPhone 4 cracked glass issues and
this includes service for AT&T iPhones and verizon iPhones. I asked
my technicians (that are repairing iPhones every month). . .for some
insight and help to some commonly asked questions. My technicians have a
ton of experience and I expect nothing less than high quality service
on each and every device. While many end users choose to use us for
repair additionally there are many people opt to make repairs in their
own home. Regardless, this information could be useful to you.
Here's some intersting info about the iPhone 4 “cracked glass” issue!
Your heard it here first from the professionals at Mission Repair -
offering Nationwide pickup and delivery for all iPhone and iPod Repairs.
With
the popularity (and now that Verizon will be selling the iPhone 4 as
well) iPhone 4 repairs and damaged glass repair services (you can easily
break you glass if dropped on a hard surface!) are steadily growing and
I want to clear up a few questions right here about this type of glass
panel replacement:
A. The iPhone 3G or 3GS Glass and Digitizer
won't in your iPhone 4. They do look similar (however you can't even use
the 3G replacement glass panel in a 3GS or vice versa!), but they are
different parts and not interchangeable. The iPhone 4 is just a
completely different unit and requires it's own assembly!
B. The
iPhone 4 Glass component costs more than the 3G and 3GS iPhone Glass -
it;s more similar to the original iPhone 2G assembly. The reason is that
the iPhone 4 version of the screen is an assembly of the glass,
digitizer which is located under the glass panel, and LCD screen. (The
LCD is what shows you your icons on the iPhone). The 3G and 3GS versions
have a separate LCD screen, and therefore it’s a less expensive
assembly since you don't need to buy this component!
C. Remember,
on the iPhone 4 you can't replace the glass by itself, due to the
design of the device. To fix a shattered glass on an iPhone 4 at Mission
Repair, must replace the glass, digitizer and the LCD screen assembly.
These parts are sealed together (to remain dust free) from the factory.
There is just no way to safely separate and reuse any of these parts -
to try to do so will cause a lot of damage and "sloppy" workmanship -
not to mention it just won't work. . .
D. There's no way to use
anything other than glass that's designed for the iPhone. I've heard of
people that try to use plexiglass or lexan to perform your own “cheap”
repair. This will not work, it's just can’t be done! I have seen posts
and auctions on eBay advising this and I challenge anyone to prove that
they can get the touch digitizer and LCD off of their broken glass front
and get it to work with a home made plexiglass front. I mean, how
would someone be able to remove and reattach a paper-thin digitizer
without a mess? Remember that the digitizer is the component that
senses the "touch" of your finger. This is a very critical piece!
E.
We do sell iPhone 4 Glass assemblies in the event that you want to
perform the repair on your own - however this is a time consuming repair
and also risky - the last thing you'd want to do is damage something
else when you're in a unit. The 3G and 3GS versions are easier but it’s
still only for the very “technically inclined” end user.
I hope
this will help with some of the common questions. Give us a call at

here at Mission Repair. We repair THOUSANDS of units a month (including
HTC Phones, iPods, iPads, MacBooks and may other popular smartphones)
